As today is Friday, corny though it may sound, I have decided to share some photos of The Frye Company’s flagship store opening in Atlanta from a few weeks back. The leather apparel company, established in 1886, has opened up shop in Atlanta’s new play ground, Ponce City Market. Vogue magazine co-sponsored the well-attended evening of cocktails, canapés and bootstraps.

The Frye space exudes a vintage vibe that mirrors the brand’s aesthetic. Perhaps most striking is the chandelier of leather straps and bronze harness ring that cascade from the ceiling.

My homage to the Frye feel was in my choice of footwear. I went for an old (Spring Summer 2010) pair of black satin Lanvin Mary Jane pumps which feature removable chainlink anklets. The metallic detail add an artisanal and industrial flair to what I would otherwise describe as a simple and elegant shoe.
As always when wearing black, I opted for textural variation to create depth and contrast since the colour does not stand out much on me: satin for the top, faux leather for the leggings and the lusture sequins for the blazer. Make-up artist Yolanda Parrish of Hermosa Cosmetics referenced the sequins with a shimmery eye shadow.
Now if only the Frye boutique was around two years ago when I was tasked with helping my friend’s husband find her Christmas boots. Oh well, better late than never. Tomorrow, Saturday Decmeber 12th, The Frye Company Atlanta at Ponce City Market and The Whiskey Gentry will be treating shoppers to a holiday caroling event from 1 to 4p.m. Farm to Ladle will be warming up shoppers with complimentary hot drinks and house-made cookies. Happy Frye-day, folks!
What I Wore: C/Meo Collective top, Club Monaco “Tasha” legging, Rachel Roy sequin blazer, Lanvin shoe.
