It’s been a while since I enjoyed a simple and edifying sunday brunch infused with repartee as sprightly and potent as the coffee the accompanies my meal. This past Sunday, with the sun out for a frolic finally after several lugubriously gray days, I grabbed my new sunglasses (a pair that I had been eyeing since last year) and joined my dear friend, M and two of his friends for comestibles at Sun In My Belly.
It certainly was one of those days when I felt so very alive; one of those days that lends credence to the quote from which this quaint Kirkwood café derives its name:
“When you come right down to it, all you have is yourself. Yourself is a sun with a thousand fires in your belly. The rest is nothing” – Pablo Picasso
The image of a throbbing sun pulsating in my core is what I see pictorially when I consider the concept of “abhyasa”, the sanskrit term for practice, the root of which means “to burn”. I suppose it is through a practice; dedication, passionate commitment (to life) that we feel most alive. But I digress, as I often do– this notion warrants a post onto itself. This Sunday, after what had been a deeply fulfilling in-class yoga practice, I threw on some black and brown, a lot of leather and a little lace and with mocha, mimosa in a mason jar and Miu Miu by my side, immersed myself into an afternoon which brought the sort of easy pleasure matched only by that which I derive from saccharine alliteration 🙂

As usual, your outfit is fabulous. Today of all days I needed a bit of sun in my life. Perhaps I just need to just look within. =) Thanks for the quotation.
Ys, I am glad you found light today! As always, thank you for supporting my feeble endeavour and always bringing light to my life.
